In the memory of Tone Pavček

Wednesday, November 9th 2011, an evening of poetry by Tone Pavček.

With a selection and an interpretation of Pavček's poetry and a musical act, we will be paying tribute to a poet that has marked space and time, as they have marked him and every one of us.
Performing will be Simona Kopinšek and Dani Marinič.

In a children's book Deček gre za soncem (A boy following the sun) Tone Pavček wrote:

Na svetu si, da gledaš sonce.
Na svetu si, da greš za soncem.
Na svetu si, da sam si sonce.
In da s sveta odganjaš - sence.

(You are on earth to view the sun.
You are on earth to track the sun.
You are on earth to be the sun
that shadows always shun. )

He gave so much to us. Reminded us constantly of so many things. And insisted:

Ko hodiš, pojdi zmeraj do konca.
(When you walk, go always to the end.)

From our lips and in our ears, his poems have become folk songs. In our hearts. He has rendered immortal the beauty of the four seasons, observed the overlooked, and translated the wonders and the innumerable forms of the seen into the language of poetry. Love was central to him.
