Peter Andrej: THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT BANK, poetry of young poets of Maribor put to music Wednesday 20 April 2011 KIBLA Multimedia centre
The left and the right bank, poetry by young poets of Maribor put to music, will be performed in KIBLA for the very first time. Within the project Peter Andrej has put to music a selection of poems written by Jože Kos Grabar, Simona Kopinšek, Željko Perovič, Petra Kolmančič, Nino Flisar, Bojan Sedmak, Borut Gombač, Bogdana Namestnik, Lučka Zorko and Dragan Potočnik. He will also perform poetry based songs that appear on his album Povabilo na čaj.
Born in 1959 in Maribor, Peter Andrej is a Slovenian singer, musician and producer. He is a well-known singer-songwriter and the producer of the major Slovenian singer-songwriter festival – KantFest. With his own songs and those based on poems by P. Eluard, F. G. Lorca, B. Brecht, O. Župančič, E. Vouk, B. A. Novak, B. Namestnik, A. Šteger and others, he has performed as a singer-songwriter several times at the stages of Lent, Cankarjev dom, Borštnik theatre festival, KUD-France Prešeren, Trieste and many others. A Maribor-born man who lives in the Koroška region has so far released on albums the projects Hiša iz kart, songs, based on a performance by Boris A. Novak, poems by Janko Glazer entitled Pohorske poti, the album Valovanje, based on the poetry of Erika Vouk and Peter Andrej, and Povabilo na čaj in April 2006, based on the poetry of international and Slovenian poets.
The night of poetry put to music is being prepared in the scope of the 14th Slovenian Book Days in Maribor - When a book writes you 2011.
