RUBY MEETS THE GUITAR – an evening of literature and music with Erika Vouk and Boštjan Narat
On Wednesday 3 November at 7.30 pm - an evening of literature and music with Erika Vouk and Boštjan Narat
Their combined performance of literature and music is a wonderful combination of Rubin poetry collection by Erika Vouk and original music by Boštjan Narat.
Erika Vouk, born in 1941, is a poet and translator. Her poetry collections include Bela Evridika (1984), Anima (1990), Belo drevo (2000), Opis slike (2002; Jenko prize), Album (2003), Valovanje (2003; Veronika prize), Rubin (2008), Z zamahom ptice neka roka slika (2007) … She is also a top quality translator, whose most renowned translated work is Part two of Goethe's Faust. Alongside Meta Kušar and Maja Vidmar, she was presented in the trilingual anthology Glas v telesu: tri slovenske pesnice (2005). Many of her poems have been put to music.
Boštjan Narat, philosopher and musician, head of the band Katalena as well as creator and performer of stage music. Earlier this year he released his debut solo album Strah je odveč. Thus, the already established musician enters our music scene not only as a guitarist, lyrics writer and composer, but also as singer and singer-songwriter. His pure music expression and specific original poetics have already attracted public attention. Narat has performed at festivals like Kamfest, Sanje, Ljubljana book fair, and has also received a prize at the only Slovenian singer-songwriter festival, Kantfest in Ruše (nearby Maribor).
ACE KIBLA programme is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Municipality of Maribor and The Slovenian Office of Youth. KIBLA is a part of Multimedia Centres Net Slovenia.
The programme has been supported by the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Book.
