In the beginning, there was Troy - presentation of the book by Borut Korun

Thursday 12th February 2009 at 7 pm, MMC Kibla - the presentation of Na začetku je bila Troja (In the beginning, there was Troy), the latest book by Borut Korun. The discussion was moderated by Štefan Simončič.

The book is a travel essay on various Mediterranean lands that were once the homeland of Greeks and the Greek culture. The myth of the Trojan War, Odysseus' travels, the Greek "enlightenment" and other cultural and historian factors having enabled the development of a culture so important and unique as the Greek culture were the topics that attracted the attention of the author to include them in the travelogue.

The famous Slovenian cultural worker, writer and editor of magazine 2000 Peter Kovačič Peršin wrote about the book:
"The thoughts of Borut Korun while travelling the paths of ancient Hellas are not a mere literary description of the travel across the lesser known places of ancient Greece, they are also exquisite thoughts of a connoisseur of Greek culture, mythology as well as philosophy of ancient Greeks..."

Borut Korun, a dentist by profession, also studied ethnology for two years. Already during secondary school he travelled much and published articles i daily newspapers and magazines. In 1987 he published his first two books – Kondorjev klic (Condor's call), a travelogue from Columbia, Ecuador and Peru, and Reke, soteske, brzice (Rivers, gorges, rapids) – on various rivers from Turkey to France. River adventures and interest in cultural history are constant companions of Korun's writing, which resulted in a number of books over the years.
