FOLIO AND FAIR magazine presentation
FOLIO Magazine – Pilot for intermedia art, culture and the joy of life was first published in 2009 by ACE KIBLA. Four issues have been published so far, with all texts in Slovenian and in English. Year One has been designed as a “pilot” to establish the concept, attract contributors, enhance the contents and communicate with the interested public and artists, at the same time establishing distribution channels in Slovenia and at the global level. Folio aims to present artists and their works as well as art projects at global and national levels. Folio has been designed in accordance with KIBLA's operating philosophy - to integrate art with advance technologies, science, ecology, cuisine... Folio thus represents a complete project reflecting a certain time and space.
FAIR Magazine – Zeitung für Kunst und Ästhetik – Wien/Berlin has been published by Thomas Redl and Wolf Guenter Thiel in Vienna and Berlin since 2008. It deals with current topics in art and culture as well as related fields – cultural studies and philosophy. Texts are published in German and in English, the latter in cases when the original language is not German. FAIR is considered a carrier of information and a platform enabling a dialogue on topical topics and issues and in the field of culture. Contents of published tests can be quoted in expert and scientific works as it is meant to be available to other authors as a basis. This year, however, saw the foundation of another FAIR publication oriented towards presenting the Central and Eastern European area, which is being published in English alongside the main magazine.

writer, philosopher, preacher, NSK spokesman Peter Mlakar
Main topic: “Do we really need magazines for art?” Are art and artists being presented and promoted abroad sufficiently by traditional media (newspapers, TV, radio)? What is the significance of a magazine for art at such a small market as the Slovenian is; Can it survive: Is there a future for it? How can such a specific medium distributed locally and globally support Slovenian art and production? Is such a medium also an excellent opportunity for promoting and communicating the European Capital of Culture? What is the difference in these issues comparing the Austrian-German and Slovenian magazine for art?
The discussion was hosted by Pina Gabrijan.
Programme has been supported by Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for the Book.
