Goran Samardžić, Forrest spirit – book introduction and discussion

Za:misel bookstore invited you to the first literary evening in the autumn season. It took place on Monday, the 11th of September 2006 at 8pm in MMC Kibla. Our guest was Bosnian author Goran Samardžič who introduced his latest book Forrest spirit.

Goran Samardžić is the author of the widely acclaimed short story collection Sikamora written in the 90's.
Forrest spirit is an autobiographical novel telling the story of a young man growing up in Beograd and interested mainly in motorbikes, weight lifting, sex and complete freedom. Later he moves with his family to Sarajevo where war changes everything. Childhood friends are suddenly on different sides...
The critics were impressed by the purity of Samardžić's language and the sensuality and brutality of his story telling.
