May Salon ZDSLU 2022 (MS'22) May Salon ZDSLU 2022 (MS'22) BLUE LINE: From the Renaissance to the New Media 13 May–13 July 2022 KIBLA PORTAL
We cordially invite you to the opening of the traditional annual exhibition of the Slovenian Association of Fine Arts Societies (ZDSLU) May Salon 2022, which will take place on Friday, 13 May 2022 at 7 p.m. at the KIBLA PORTAL.
INVITATION (PDF)
The May Salon, held almost continuously since 1909, represents a traditional annual exhibition of members of the ZDSLU from nine regional societies. It is an exhibition with the longest tradition in Slovenia and gives an overview of contemporary Slovenian art production. This year's exhibition at KIBLA PORTAL covers 218 artists with more than 600 artworks.
The blue thread connects art and creative ideas, from classical to new technological media. It combines 500 years of easel painting with a creative act in digital and mixed media, opening up new artistic possibilities. For the artist, who brings the artwork from his/her studio into the light of the gallery space, the great challenge is how he/she will establish a relationship with other works in a group exhibition of twenty-two artists. The challenge is even more significant for the curator, as he/she needs to place them in mutual relationships. KIBLA PORTAL in the former textile factory in Maribor offers space and support for these many artistic visions and approaches from a different perspective. Artworks are set in the perspectives of inclusive placement of art in space, i.e., inclusiveness rather than exclusiveness – they mix and put each other in a wide range of dialogues, kinship, and opposition. Interplay is the primary idea.
The exhibition's curators are Aleksandra Kostič, art historian, curator and art critic, Mojca Štuhec, M.A, art historian, and Peter Tomaž Dobrila, curator, producer and intermedia artist.
Admission is free.
