New Production by Valerie Wolf Gang in Collaboration With KIBLA2LAB at CC Tobačna 001 New Production by Valerie Wolf Gang in Collaboration With KIBLA2LAB at CC Tobačna 001 24 February–8 April 2022 Cultural Centre Tobačna 001, Ljubljana
Last year, in an open call for co-production of RUK network projects in KIBLA2LAB, we selected the intermedia artist Valerie Wolf Gang, who works at the intersection of science and art.
Together with the KIBLA2LAB team, she developed the project The Beautiful Face of Artificial Intelligence, which will be displayed as the central work at the eponymous exhibition at the Cultural Centre Tobačna 001 in Ljubljana between 24 February and 8 April 2022.
At the heart of her research, the artist places the relationship between human and technology and is inspired by the connection between animate and inanimate nature and the multifaceted nature of the human character.
»The centrepiece of the exhibition is an interactive installation featuring a baroque frame embedded with a digital mirror. The installation contains three derivations in terms of the three building blocks of self-image of a person: one’s own perception projections and desires, and the perspective of society. The first look into the mirror allows us to see our own body in its reality. The second highlights our inner world, as the image in the mirror begins to change when the brainwave monitor is placed on the head. The appearance of the image is then further transformed by the extraction of data from the internet, such as the value of shares, bitcoin, or the temperature of the atmosphere.« (Alenka Trebušak, MGML / Tobačna Gallery)
