Gordon Monahan: Theremin Pendulum

Monahan creates music, sound sculptures, sonic installations and computer-controlled sound environments, supported by a variety of genres including avant-garde concert music, intermedia installations and sound art.
Theremin Pendulum is a sound and visual lighting installation, moving inside a low-lit gallery into a seemingly unpredictable pattern - the light is in fact an interface, held by a theremin antenna that reflects the frequency waves of this instrument. At the opening, Monahan will be performing the Sauerkraut Synthesizer performance, with fruit and vegetables used as troughs for the incoming voltage of the sound synthesizer, with the help of program equipment: six types of fruits and vegetables beome a battery producing approximately one volt of electrical energy. Voltage variables are transmitted to the computer by means of an interface.

The exhibition will be showing until November 15th 2011.
