Matej Pečnikar / Hold me tightFriday 10/04/2009 at 8 pm Kibela - the opening reception of exhibition by the painter Matej Pečnikar.
In Kibela, Matej Pečnikar is presenting a series of paintings expressing the divide in human existence, the battle between his spiritual and animal pole, the battle with the internal self, the battle between instinct, emotions and the reason, the divide between creation and evolution. Personal experience of the author as well as his views on life and his experience of the world are presented using simple figures and symbols.
Matej Pečnikar (1975) studied painting at the Accademia di belle arti di Brera, Milan, with professors Gottard Ortelli and David Benati. Searching for new challenges and experience he moved to Vienna in 1998, where he continued his studies of painting at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, mentored by professors Markus Prachensky and Walter Obholzer. He graduated in Vienna in 2001. Since then he has been living in various parts of the world, including Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands. His experience from abroad left its mark on his personal and artistic development.
