Technologies of control for public spaces: ArmPod performance Crowd Ctrl KIBLA presented itself with world famous artists in Phaeno Center in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Videast Ana Pečar and musician Cameron Bobro travelled to Germany as representatives of ACE Kibla. They have been invited to participate in the performance Crowd Ctrl by BBM group in Scientific Center Phaeno in Wolfsburg (http://www.phaeno.com/) within the spheres of Phenomenale, festival of science and art that will take place three weekends in January and February under the title Machines for everyone. Themes are: Robots, Private machines and Cyborgs. Premiere of the Crowd Ctrl that includes active participation by the public took place on Friday, the 26th of January 2007 at 10pm as a part of Private machines theme. The repetitions of the performance took place on Saturday, the 27th of January at 2pm and 8pm and on Sunday the 28th of January at 5pm.
Among the participants of the festival are Stelarc, David Cronenberg, Karl Bartos (ex Kratftwerk), Vera Chytilová and ZKM Karlsruhe.
For twenty years BBM group is famous for their spectacular performances. They represented Germany on the EXPO 2000 in Hannover. Last year they presented themselves with TROIA-ArmPod project in Kibla. A variation on this performance with the active public participation was presented in Wolfsburg. The main topic of the performance was New technologies for political control of citizens. Their performances are based on the critical relationship towards the contemporaneity, in this case they deal with the ever present political control of people in public spaces while using modern information-communication technologies, robots and artifical intelligence of complex systems.
