Public Services

On Friday, 24th of March 2006 at 8pm the opening of the Public Services exhibition took place in KiBela gallery (MMC Kibla, Ulica kneza Koclja 9, Maribor). The exhibition was opened until the 5th of April.

Public Services exhibition brings five engaging starting- points and five extremely subjective approaches that may, at first glance, look as if they deal with completely non- artistic subjects. Authors think critically about alternative models of public services that should be based upon equality and openness, they suggest changes in social relationships, they devote their attention to topics that are mostly ignored by social initiatives and institutions such as: unemployment, human trafficking, natural disasters, terrorist attacks and dilapidated neighbourhoods with underprivileged population.
The projects are created as direct, physical interventions in the town's structure, as social interactions or as utopian virtual plans. The artists create imagination and invention whose goal is to remodel existing models of individual's inclusion in socially more appropriate and connected environment.

The exhibition was organised in cooperation with P74 gallery, Prušnikova 74, Ljubljana. The curators are Tadej Pogačar and Polonca Lovšin.
