, not a time machine. is a composition for three dancers, swimming pool, camera, monitor and mixing board created by author Miha Ciglar, Mojca Kasjak movement iniciator, son:DA is the author of scenography/video, movers are Maja Arzenšek, Mojca Kasjak and Nina Milin.
, not a time machine. is an interdisciplinary art project which relates directly to the project respectively composition »This is pop«: http://www.ciglar.mur.at/POP.htm as an answer or a contrast. However the interdisciplinary is only seeming, because this composition was written for an unusual music instrument whose »physiological« character inevitably hints on a dance performance/contemporary motion work of art. This unplanned interpretation is very welcome, because it widens expressive potential of the instrument and at the same time executes an excelent audio-visual transformation that is of a crucial importance for the understanding of not only the contemporary music but also sound art in general. Unusual constellation of the participants »acteurs«: dancers, pool, camera, monitor and audio mixing board establishes up to now an unexperienced expressive platform that contrasts predictability which is a primary subject of »This is pop« project. Every new move reflects itself in a special sound event oblivious to its aesthetics, but in an interdependance of the previous one and momentary positions of all eight dancers. Sometimes this sound event surprises even the dancers because of the reality (non-ideality) of the technical equipment (the pool and the mixing board). The same as »This is pop« project , », not a time machine« refers to the substance/ the isolated core of the main topic (pop) or in the case of », not a time machine.« to the negation of an »object«. To refer to the »non-object« and to the foundation of the conception that puts into force its originality and existence only through the non-essence of things and that actually and momentarily also doesn't exsist, is probably as irrational and above all unstable as its artistic manifestation.
