100 covers of Mladina magazine and " Diareja" strip The art space KiBela in MMC Kibla hosted two exhibitions at one time: “100 covers of Mladina magazine” and “Diareja through time”. The exhibitions lasted from 27 February till 12 March 2004.
'Mladina' and 'Diareja' as an inseparable tandem have left important footprints in exciting happenings from the eighties till nowadays - it is hard to imagine the one without the other.
The exhibition showed a selection of Mladina magazine covers dating from 1997 to 2003, designed by many recognised Slovene and Yugoslav designers. Artistic designs and daring designing ideas always expressed an editorial attitude and in many cases they expressed what was not written. Visitors were given a chance to print one (!) chosen A3 cover by a laser printer free of charge.
The exhibition showed the works of designing groups 'Novi Kolektivizem', Trio Sarajevo, Gigodesign, 'Kladivo' and individual artists: Zdravko Papič, Tomaž Lavrič, Matevž Medja, Damjan Ilić, Matjaž Vipotnik, Zoran Smiljanič, Ranko Novak, Zvonko Čoh, Milan Erič, Radovan Jenko, Zvone Kosovelj, Miljenko Licul, Goran Bertok, Milan Trenc, Miran Klenovšek, Igor Kos, Janez Suhadolc, Andrej Flumiami, N. Radibratović and Aleš Smrekarj and photographers: Dragan Arrigler, Barbara Čeferin, Miha Fras, Diego Andrés Gómez, Marko Jamnik, Janez Pukšič, Denis Sarkić, Tonet Stojko, Jože Suhadolnik, Miha Škrlep, Vlado Vivod, Srđan Živulović and Joco Žnidaršič.
Diareja, the legendary satirical thoughts of Tomaž Lavrič, despite and yet exactly because of their pure, minimalistic form, never minced matters. With an extract of bitter humour they repeatedly get to the heart of the given moment and happening. The exhibition “Diareja through time”, selected by a curator Miloš Bašin from Bežigrad gallery, also included selected comics of Tomaž Lavrič and original panels of “Extreme sports”. A catalogue that uncovers Diareja's pre-history was also available. Photo gallery
