Art Digital Video In December 2005, space for art KiBela hosted a contemporary French digital production.
Opening: 3 December 2004 at 8 pm, in Multimedia Centre Kibla, space for art KiBela, Ulica kneza Koclja 9, 2000 Maribor. Workshops: Creation of interactive computer environments took place between 9 and 11 December 2004 at Communication Information point KIT, Glavni trg 14, Maribor.
French artist Bruno Samper managed the workshop (www.panoplie.fr).
In cooperation with French Institute Charles Nodier in Ljubljana, we prepared a group exhibition of contemporary interactive and digital culture. The artists are using various approaches and forms of presentations, such as animated movie, flash, net art, analogue and digital images... with these means they create brand-new contents and transport us into the rich environment of images, colours and all that is imaginative. At the same time, new ideas about digital culture are created. These images can not be compared to anything as far as the aesthetic is concerned. They have no depth, are pixelized, excessive in colours, too fast and rude. They don't match with the known, but question unreal visions of new moving pictures. In some parts we can notice confrontations and the mixing of different realities, the seizure of narrative figures in the shape of interactive games or fictions that are slowly deviating from the traditional video.
On this occasion we hosted a French digital artist, Bruno Samper, who helped us hold a three-day workshop in which the participants were able to train themselves in creating interactive computer environments.
Bruno Samper is the author of the advanced game environment Society, divided into four parts, comprising different universes, identities and stereotypes that are developed through the game. In this environment the culture of convergence is emphasised and expressed by the play of variable images, music and different information approaching one another and finally merging into new hybrid forms.
