Love cannot be measured in quantities, there is no more or less of it. To have more or less of it is completely human. Neither is love a medicine or a disease, love is no opiate and no curse. People do it all by and to themselves. Love simply IS. And anyone can take as much as they want and turn it into much or little, a medicine or an opiate or anything else. And there is no need to look for it. For we are made of it. BEWARE OF KURENT FIGURES ON ST. VALENTINE'S!

Papir Ensemble, the leading representative of the New Pop Song (Nova popevka) movement emerged like a rainbow made of people that simply gathered to make nice songs – songs that will mean something to the world, that will remain and keep cheering the world up with its tunes and stories for years to come.

The world is created of thousands of colours, the prettiest of which must be music and poetry. The landscapes that these two can create jointly are among our most beautiful possessions.

And if this poetic words fail to reach some strings that are out of tune, may the facts speak for themselves:

Rok Vilčnik, a playwright and poet holding several awards, once the visionary and head of Patetico music band and lately the songwriter of the most successful Slovenian female singer Neisha, has interwoven his poetry into music landscapes created lucidly by the composer Gregor Stermecki, a winner of student Prešeren award. His intelligent pop compositions rambling vehemently between jazz, soul and blues influences, sometimes carrying the origins of pure chanson, were provided an adequate arrangement by Sebastijan Duh, one of the most prominent Slovenian pianists who has already collaborated with numerous celebrated jazz musicians from Slovenia and abroad.

However, the prettiest element and the driving force of the top-quality music project must be its two singers. The young and extremely talented Mirna Bogdanović, who was a member of the successful Maribor-based band Yogurt when at the early age of 16 and has just started studying piano at the Music Academy in Ljubljana and singing at Klagenfurt conservatory, and, naturally, Ana Bezjak, one of the most prominent jazz singers from Maribor and a graduate of Klagenfurt conservatory, Department of jazz singing, better known in jazz venues abroad than across Slovenia, and on top of that a successful music teacher.

An excellent company of musicians whose virtuosity shall elevate the participation of previously mentioned authors must surely serve as a proof that a feast for ears is surely on its way – the excellent drummer Bruno Domiter, a regular member of the Croatian HGM Jazz orchestra, a top Slovenian bassist Tadej Kampl, the guitarist and composer Igor Bezget, for some time now among the leading Slovenian guitarists in the field of improvised music, jazz and world music, and, of course, the previously mentioned Sebastijan Duh on keyboards.

NEW POP SONG / NOVA POPEVKA is a new wave in music originating in Maribor. It only relates to its legendary predecessor in terms of the quality of creative capacities, otherwise drawing on more recent genres of soul, jazz, blues and chanson.

So far, the region of Štajerska has probably never offered so much pleasure in music in one serving.
