Traditional Japanese tea ceremony

On Wednesday the 9th of May at 7pm you were cordially invited to attend Japanese evening in MMC KIBLA where we gott to know traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Tea ceremony originates in China. In Japan it became familiar in the 12th century where it was established as a part of religious ceremony.
In medieval Japan an original ceremony was developed under the name of Chado (the way of the tea) or Chano (hot water for tea). This ceremony unites many Japanese arts such as: pottery, calligraphy, gardening, ikebana and Japanese kitchen.

Exact rules of traditional tea ceremony were set in the 16th century by the great master Sen no Rikju who also established four main principles of tea ceremony: wa (harmony), kei (respect), sei (purity) and jaku (tranquility). The atmosphere of traditional schools of tea ceremony can be described with the words vabi and sabi (natural and composed refinement, natural elegance).

Chado is a traditional art that deeply affected Japanese way of life, thinking and composure. Three schools of tea ceremony still exist today: Ura Senke, Omote Senke, Mushanokoji Senke.

In collaboration with the Japanes embassy.
