Workshop: Digital Nature – 3D Design, VR and AR
Workshop: Digital Nature – 3D Design, VR and AR 12–14 November 2024 17-20h KIBLA PORTAL
We invite you to a three-day creative workshop where you will explore the intertwining of nature and digital technologies through the prism of 3D design and VR and AR (virtual and augmented reality). Participants will create interactive digital worlds that explore the relationship between humans, technology and nature.
Day 1: Digital reconstruction of nature On the first day, natural elements such as leaves, branches and rocks will be transferred into a digital environment using 3D scans. Participants will learn the basics of 3D design and adapt scanned models for use in VR and AR projects. We will explore how to digitally reinterpret natural forms to create new, virtual worlds (Thinkercad, Kiri app).
Day 2: Designing virtual natural worlds Participants will design complete virtual environments based on scanned models. We will discuss the possibilities of using these technologies to create innovative artistic environments (Cospaces, MergeCube).
Day 3: VR/AR installations The last day is dedicated to integrating all elements into working interactive VR or AR installations. Participants will finalize their projects, optimize them for users and present them. Together we will reflect on the process and discuss the artistic and technical challenges of creating digital natural worlds.
The workshop will be conducted by: Jaka Waldhütter, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Professor of Computer Science Monika Pocrnjić, BA in Art Education and intermedia artist
