Developing computer games StencylAssociation for Contemporary Art X-OP, ACE KIBLA, Slovenian Game Developers Association, shorter Games Slovenia organised for creators in soul, artists and narrators, acquaintance with the media of computer games in the form of workshop Mondays. The first meeting was held on Monday, October 10, 2016, at the premises of KIBLA PORTAL, Valvasorjeva 40 street in Maribor.
We learned about the Stencyl sofware, which uses the Skratch system to record the code in the way of "cubes assembling". There was no need for previous programming knowledge as we gradually explored the Stencyl environment and learned, how simple computer games brains function. During the course of the workshops, each participant created own vision of the game, which was spread to the audience.
Applications are collected at irena.pamic (at) kibla.org.
Stencyl software (http://www.stencyl.com/) is a computer game engine, a set of code that rounds everything necessary to recreate physics, movement, animation, sounds, and mechanics in the game. Its graphical interface allows you to build elements in drag & drop mode.
However, possible were creations in just two dimensions (2D), which may be its limitation to more advanced games such as Unity or Unreal4. The basic, free version of Stencyl has all the features open, but only game creations for PC or browser using the Flash interface were possible.
