THE ELECTRICS (SWE, GER) Sture Ericson - saxophone Axel Dörner - trumpet Ingebrigt Håker Flaten – double bass Raymond Strid - percussion
Have you ever been surprised while observing nature or physical laws at how complex, coexistent, intertwined, and yet gently build this world is? If so, this concert was just for you. The reactions within this German-Norwegian connection are linked in an unbelievably deep, even telepathic way.
Let's start with percussion: if your mind was not blown by the powerful The Thing performance three years ago, you might remember the bass player Ingrebrigt Håker Flaten who kept driving Mats Gustafsson on sax higher and higher… But this would not have happened if it wasn't for the exceptionally sensitive drummer Raymond Strid seeing him to his beginnings in music. Axel Dörner impersonates all the diversities within the group: he is an original hard-bop trumpeter making an impression with his spontaneous acoustic solos, while the sound of his trumpet is completely modern, rustling, very much like contemporary digital music, making us wonder how he can make the trumpet sound like that. And then there's Sture Ericson, the leading man of this diverse quartet, the one driving to swift turns, to the music blurring the boundaries of who plays what, while the audience is wondering how four people can possibly breathe as one. Sometimes whispering like a breeze, sometimes blowing in the real free jazz storm. Photo gallery
