With Erik Truffaz everything is quite simple – the already legendary trumpeter continuing the tradition of Miles Davis whose concerts are a hypnotic mix between “drum'n'bass and dub parties for jazzers”. He is one of the key jazz and contemporary music creators in the last decade.

Erik Truffaz came to Maribor for the first time on an exclusive Slovenian performance after he sold out the concert in Križanke in Ljubljana two years ago!

In his unique musical style Truffaz intertwines cool jazz, electronics, drum and bass, hip-hop, pop, dub, classical and Arabian music. Because of his extraordinary fusion of various genres into charmingly alluring music he can be compared only to Miles Davis.

Legendary Miles Davis album Kind of Blue inspired Truffaz who was born in 1960 to study classical music on the Geneva Conservatory. In 1990 he founded his first jazz band, a year later he received the prestigious French award Prix special. Right after he recorded his first album Nina Valeria, he went on the European tour and performed on Montreux jazz festival.

In Maribor he introduced his new album Arkhangelsk, marked by vocal and sound excellence and especially by Truffaz’s trumpet reminding us of Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker and Miles Davis.
Arkhangelsk might be the album that is inclined to pop music more than all the others before with its Northern dreamy sounds belonging somewhere between the sky and the earth – a beautiful album one would like to listen to again and again…
