Denis Colin is jazz package's secret tip especially because of the fact that his new project got an incredible attention from the public and from the music critics and became album of the year in France. French clarinettist is musical original, he performs music of John Coltrane, Archie Shepp, but also Jimi Hendrix and Marlene Sha in his own, remarkable way. The trio composed of clarinet, violoncello and zarb (Iraqi percussion) finds itself on the crossroad of the expressive and of the progressive with loving trips to the freedom. Their music is marked with the originality of the musicians, but still stays loyal to its original in this most witty project in which some of the classics of rhythm & blues, hip-hop, gospel and jazz were never heard in versions like these. Denis Colin continues the tradition of the masters, Julius Hemphill from USA and Louis Sclavis from France, in his own way. When listening to this quartet's extraordinary album »Something in common« we become aware of the juncture between European and American jazz and the originality of pop and rock music.
