We cordially invite you to the third event of this year’s MIGAV cycle, the experimental set by the one and only kleemar, which will take place on Wednesday, 15 May 2024, at 8 p.m. at MMC KIBLA.

Despite the relatively few works, kleemar’s musical strides have earned him the title of one of the better hidden gems of Slovenian music production. His playful, intricate approach has captivated audiences and inspired many to make music themselves. kleemar invokes the tradition of the best of his genre, which can be described as a curious mix of singer-songwriting and electronic music, although he himself always prefers to avoid defining the genre in which he creates. Nonetheless, behind every snippet of his musical work lies the artist's recognizable signature … far away from trends and urban hype, where the only relevant context is the sound. In early 2014, he gained international attention when The Guardian included his “Bored of Canada” in its list of “nine must-listen new tracks from around the world”.

Matej Končan - kleemar was born in 1980 in Murska Sobota, Slovenia. He began playing music at grammar school and soon after graduating had visible success in this field. He is a founding member of the music bands kleemar and Manul. He has worked with the label God Bless This Mess since its beginnings, also as a graphic designer. Between 2008 and 2013, he was a member of the Slovenian-Croatian band Lollobrigida, with whom he released the album Pilula and performed on many Slovenian and European stages (five times at one of the biggest European festivals, EXIT). One of the biggest recognitions, which is a proof of the quality of his work with Lollobrigida, is the MTV Adria Music Award for the best Adria act. In 2006, he contributed the music to the dance performance Why Would Anyone Stop Me by choreographer and director Matjaž Farič. In 2007, he began collaborating with theater director Luka Martin Škof, with whom he created seven theater performances and two events. In 2013, he released the album Banana Split with the group TRUS!, a joint release of the labels God Bless This Mess and Moonlee Records. In 2014 he composed music for the neuro-art project Brain Dance. He is currently creating sound and music for the transmedia project Twisted Tales, produced by the Institute for Transmedia Design. In 2020 he released an album titled No Love in Modern World on the label rx:tx.
