MIGAV Music Cycle: GMB + jesusonecstasy
MIGAV Music Cycle GMB + jesusonecstasy: Nexus AV – experimental audiovisual performance Wednesday, 17 April 2024, at 8 p.m. MMC KIBLA
We would like to invite you to the second event of this season’s MIGAV cycle, an experimental audiovisual performance by the duo GMB and jesusonecstasy, entitled Nexus AV, which will take place on Wednesday, 17 April 2024, at 8 p.m. at MMC KIBLA.
The two artists share a common use of technology, which they adapt to the needs of their artistic expression through modifications and technological upgrades. The essence of their collaboration is to create an interplay between image and sound by using multiple infinite feedback loops of audio and video signals routed through their audio and video systems. The result is difficult to reproduce due to the unstable nature of the feedback loops. A complex and unstable system requires constant monitoring and response to ensure that it does not die in silence and degenerate into chaos or noise. The composition is therefore instantaneous, and unpredictability is its key element.
Mitja Cerkvenik has been making electronic music under the pseudonym jesusonecstasy since 1997. He contributes music for films and theatre and, in addition to his own projects, records and produces for other bands. Since 2011 he has been developing electronic musical instruments for his solo performances and intermedia installations. He regularly collaborates with Bara Kolenc and performs live music in her theatre and dance performances. Since 2015 he has been living in Berlin, where he founded the company Crosspatch, which recently released the Eurorack module Triggerpad. For the last 3 years he has also been editing a radio programme about live electronic music for NOR radio.
Gašper Milkovič Biloslav is a visual artist whose work is characterised by an ever-present fascination with historical visual approaches as well as forgotten and (for most people) obsolete video equipment. By exploring and using this equipment in combination with contemporary technology, he develops a distinctive visual language that, despite the clear influences of the past, remains intriguing and relevant in the future. He is mainly active in the fields of live visuals, AV live acts, experimental music videos and videos and AV installations.
