Stane Špegel: Live performance – Kajuh via AI
Thursday, 18 May 2023, at 8 p.m.
MMC KIBLA

We would like to invite you to the first event of this season's MIGAV cycle, an audio-visual performance by Stane Špegel entitled Live performance – Kajuh via AI, which will take place on Thursday, 18 May 2023, at 8 p.m. at MMC KIBLA.

The basic idea of this two-part multimedia project is to present the poet Karel Destovnik - Kajuh with the tools of art(ificial) intelligence in the light of the upcoming new industrial revolution. This revolution is increasingly connecting humans with artificial intelligence (AI) and is already replacing the human being in many fields – culture and art are no exception. The central theme is Kajuh's cycle of eight love poems, processed with online AI tools. Kajuh's love poems were first translated into English by online AI translators; then they were translated from English into 20 other world languages. These translations were then read by online AI speakers. Special music algorithms later used AI to convert the written and spoken translations of the songs into musical notations, which were used to create the final arrangements of the songs that provide the musical basis for computerized reciters. The reciters read one stanza in each song in different languages. The audiovisual performance is accompanied by digital dancers embedded in the video, which were also generated with the help of artificial intelligence. The music is an eclectic multi-genre mix of electronic and acoustic music.

Stane Špegel alias Monom alias HouseMouse alias Stanislav has been active on the Slovenian art scene for four decades as a composer, instrumentalist, producer and author of multimedia content. His compositions have been released in several national and international music collections. He also remixes tracks by foreign artists (Air, Jamez, Chris Liebing, Sestre, Elevators, Eric Satie...) and has won several international music calls and competitions. He is also active in the field of musical equipment for theatre and dance performances and celebrations. He has already staged more than twenty solo music-visual performances/exhibitions, in which he accompanies his sculptures, prints, relief landscapes and video films with an original band. His video films have been shown at several national and international video festivals. He has authored, co-written and directed several celebrations and commemorations of national, cultural, fashion and sports events.
