Music cycle MIGAV: Luka Uršič – KALU Music cycle MIGAV: Luka Uršič – KALU Friday, 29 October, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. MMC KIBLA
We are inviting you to the Multimedia Centre KIBLA on Friday, 29 October 2021, at 8:30 p.m. where the painter, illustrator, performer, musician and composer Luka Uršič – KALU will present his new music. Finally.
The keyboardist and occasional vocalist in the groups Your Gay Thoughts and Lo-hi-fi, collaborator of singers Polona Kasal and Katja Šulc, of the musician, composer and keyboardist Bowrain and of multidisciplinary artist Jaša etc. will this time focus on his musical project KALU, which has not been heard on compilations for far too long, let alone on a solo project. He completed his last album KALU & The Gradient Get Well Soon in 2018.
KALU collects musical pebbles both on the main roads as well as in the backstreets and composes them into a unique expression, at once melodic and harmonious as well as complex and striking. It can also be danceable and topical, but it’s always exploratory and authorial. He doesn’t perform much, so we can hardly say that he’s popular since his rare appearances pose more questions that give answers.
Let us be then surprised at his concert in KIBLA by what he will play and show us. Maybe he will even sing and dance with his instrumentation. But we will surely witness a multifaceted event, where the familiarity of the musical form will be undermined by the internal experiment of the structure in composing subtle music, arising from Luka’s subtle sounds and the concreteness of tones in weaving the associative and inspirational into one ... as well as into two.
Admission is free. You can attend the event in accordance with the RVT protocol and NIJZ recommendations. __ Production: ACE KIBLA Co-organisation: X-OP Association for Contemporary Art, CODE BLUE Production Support: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Municipality of Maribor, EU Program Creative Europe – Culture
