INVITATION (PDF) ABOUT THE EXHIBITION (PDF) EXHIBITED ARTWORKS (PDF)
Stojan Grauf’s works are like a walk hand in hand with nature. The insistence on emphasizing the inseparability of art and nature and the subtle combination of a personal attitude, creating in nature and with natural materials, which he also produces himself, natural motifs and the elementary nature of artistic expression, underlined by the primary visual medium, charcoal drawing, make up his unique signature. In nature, the inner emotion flares up in an expressive painterly gesture and allows the feelings to merge in contact with the external environment in which he likes to move. The surroundings of Maribor, the Pohorje mountains and the river Drava provide motifs whose appearance captivates and inspires him.
The coexistence of man and artist as natural beings in an environment is an elixir that nourishes the artistic impulse. The interventions in nature are minimal, almost platonic in their attentiveness to what exists, even if it is man-made and yet integrated into the life cycle of birth and decay. In between lies a medium that is aware of the vastness and uniqueness of the space that defines us: all-encompassing and particular, from the smallest part of the atom to the vast universe, individual and social, natural and artistic, and yet one and unique.
