You are cordially invited to the opening of the Red Square exhibition by art photographer Matej Fišer, which will be held on Wednesday, 23 August 2023, at 7 p.m., in the exhibition space artKIT.
INVITATION (PDF) ABOUT THE EXHIBITION (PDF)
Fišer's street photography works as an independent field that represents the independent characteristics of a given moment. The exhibited series does not have a specific narrative, but the photographer is guided by the visual rhythm that winds over the series of 24 Red Square shots and offers free space for one's own imagination and interpretation.
A deeper and deeper look into the substance of the street moment can be lost in the images and portraits of human views and their stories, scenarios and movement, light and glowing dynamics behind the scenes, the possibility of the gaze traveling along the resulting breaks in the glass and the visual reflection that borders, shines, reflects and builds new dimensions.
With street photography, the artist captures genre motifs, typical of scenes from everyday life, specific, unique moments in a given environment and society, which he transforms into magic with his uniqueness and inimitability. The transition into the intoxicating street photography of the Red Square series by Matej Fišer with its red color and impulsive transparency solidifies and places us in the red square. The visual dynamics of the photographs introduce us to a new context of reading and a way of seeing through the reality frame of the naked eye.

Matej Fišer, born in 1974 in Murska Sobota, is an artistic photographer and writer of culinary books who lives in Vienna. The photographic series entitled Red Square is twenty-four selected images from the first series of his artistic photographic works, which explore the visual rhythm of urban and human existence in the city of Vienna through the genre of street photography. It connects the world of music and the visual, i.e. the sound and voice of the image on Red Square, or the sound and voice of the image of Red Square. From these two dualities, sound and voice and Red Square, or sound and voice on Red Square, Fišer first connects voice as message and sound (also visual), and then square as format, frame and square as a meeting place.
