Slovensko

Direction: Cultural Heritage

The project, implemented by Dobra pot Institute, ID20 Institute, ACE KIBLA, Sopotniki Institute and The Museum of Madness Institute, aims to strengthen cooperation, develop competences and establish national initiatives that put heritage at the heart of social progress. The organisations, based in the Obalno-Kraška, Goriška and Podravska regions, have a wide-ranging activity, covering all 12 Slovenian statistical regions. Their diverse backgrounds and approaches are brought together by close links and a shared vision.

During the project duration, the partners will build on the existing Duri heritage platform (www.e-duri.si), develop new approaches to heritage education and research, and strengthen the voice of the NGO sector at national level. This will make heritage a key factor for integration, innovation and sustainable development.

The 27-month period will see a diverse range of activities. Key tasks will include the upgrading of the existing Duri heritage platform, the production of a series of interviews, educational webinars and podcasts with national and international experts. A good practice bazaar, expert consultations with public stakeholders and a survey on public opinion towards cultural heritage will be carried out.
In addition to research and networking activities, partners will design major national heritage initiatives and develop strategic guidelines in the areas of accessibility, mobility and sustainability of the NGO sector.

The partners note that, despite much academic and policy debate on heritage as a development opportunity, its potential remains under-exploited in practice. Its role in addressing contemporary societal challenges such as human rights, inclusion of vulnerable groups and mental health is still under-researched – the project aims to change this.

The project Direction: Cultural Heritage launches a story of intertwining knowledge, sharing experiences and people – a story in which the past inspires the future and opens new pathways, and heritage becomes a living force for integration and transformation.
