EU-PA, Mapping in Maribor, Slovenia, 1–6 February 2012

Work meeting, February 1st – 5th 2012, Maribor, Slovenia
The participants are in for a study-fieldwork visit in Maribor between February 1st and 5th: location-mapping (Koroška Street in Maribor, industrial zone Melje) and group work, with a presentation of concepts at the end of the visit. The event is hosted by KIBLA, who also organizes a meeting of artists working in Maribor with guests from St. Martins College from London, the City of Jesolo and CIANT from Prague.  

We wish to explore how transdisciplinary artistic research and methodology can be used to enrich the urban dimension. EUROPA is a 24-months’ cultural action that aims to strengthen the international mobility of artists, designers and creators, especially of younger generations. The action mobilizes the participants to a development of artistic or urban interventions in three target areas with typically different urban degrees and different environments. The project encourages dissemination, acquisition of experience, and the circling of new site-specific installations, interventions and creative environments.
The partners will present their findings through workshops, round-table discussions and exhibitions. The fieldwork is planned as part of Maribor European Capital of Culture 2012, where the challenges and the achieved results will be presented.
The partnerships is formed by organizations from four EU countries (IT, CZ, SI, UK): City of Jesolo, Italy as coordinator, two private non-profit cultural organizations (CIANT, Prague and KIBLA, Maribor), and Central St. Martins College from London.
